Teachers who have obtained their masters in education degree can become a National Board Certified Teacher. Wherever you work in the United States, this certification will follow you. Once you become certified in the state where you teach, you can apply for national certification. This option is perfect for teachers who love to travel or hope to relocate permanently.
Being certified by the National Board can qualify you for a higher salary, career advancement and additional positions in school leadership. For example, certified teachers can switch jobs and work in educational administration.
Certification requirements include having completed a college degree program as well as additional educational courses. Many of these courses are required for education graduate programs. You’ll also need to have student teaching experience, which most students gain during their undergraduate program. Lastly, you’ll need to pass the Praxis exam or another board-approved teaching exam. Requirements vary by state.
